Kelly's Baby Daddy...

The new "90210" has been on for awhile and because of my love for the original show, I had to check it out. The third episode brought Shannen Doherty back as Brenda, taking over duties for directing the school play. I have been a huge Brenda fan since day one, so I was excited. I felt like a kid again when she showed up.

Later on in other episodes, we even got a taste of that oh so familar little Brenda/Kelly friction as Kelly tried to deny she didn't still have feelings for "him" -- a.k.a. the father of her son. Just as I was beginning to wonder how long they could go on referring to him as "him," Brenda said it -- the father is Dylan. Brandon was an unlikely candidate because he seemed like the type to marry the mother of his child and stay with her, etc...Plus that would have made Brenda the kids aunt and it just didn't feel right. The news wasn't a huge shock, but myself, being a fan of the original show had higher hopes for something better...Something fresh...Something different.

While checking out various forums and articles online about it, some people stated that "...Dylan seemed the natural choice, mostly because Brandon wouldn't ditch his family...Plus, on the season finale of the original Beverly Hills 90210, Kelly had decided to run off with Dylan..."But for me, I was angered by some of these statements.

I know the choice to make Dylan the father dealt mostly with ratings, but if you are a true fan of Dylan...Or even the show for that matter, I think most would understand my anger. Dylan was a big advocate of the fact that his parents were never around for him. That was a HUGE issue for him. When his half sister Erica showed up to town, he did everything he could to keep her close to him...To have that family he never had. He even went to Mexico to rescue her (and his money). I just can't accept that he would be a deadbeat dad after all he went through as a kid. I can't accept that he would be traveling and "saving the world" and not make time for his son. I don't know maybe its just me. What do you think?
